Joleen graduated from Truman State University with an English degree, but decided to pursue costuming after taking a class her junior year. She worked several seasons at Arizona Theatre Company and Utah Shakespeare Festival before deciding to pursue her MFA. She proudly graduated in 2009 from The Unversity of North Carolina School of the Arts. Joleen moved to New Jersey and began working as a draper at Eric Winterling costumes in NYC. There she helped create costumes for Wicked, Book of Mormon, Wonderland, and Taylor Swift's Speak Now World Tour. In 2012 she became the draper at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and took over as costume shop manager in 2014. In 2019 she made the move to George Street Playhouse, where she is still the costume shop manager.
